Hi, I am Mia
Project manager. Parent. An expat based in Springfield, United States.
A few years back I moved here with my family, and what began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter living abroad.
How It Began
Moving to United States wasn't in the plan for the long haul. Like many expat relocations, it started as a job opportunity and quickly grew into something much larger.
The initial months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complex than anticipated.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines settled in. We discovered places that fit us, met other families, and began building something that felt stable.
Why I Built Silver Lane Atelier
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or superficial tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site exists to fill that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in United States.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in United States
- Centered on family life and day-to-day realities
- Updated only when meaningful changes occur
This site is not:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored-review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in United States continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I will keep recording what we find.
If you have questions about family life in Springfield or anywhere in United States, please feel free to contact me.
Best regards,
Mia
